april 2010: with this video i tried to copy the look of mid90s asian cinema like wong kar-wai, early john woo, and tran anh hung. also stan brakhage. the overarching inspirations are the artists work (david choe), koreatown, los angeles, and coming back home.

#5 manifest equality

APRIL 2010: i really wasnt gonna do anything with this footage but sit on it for a while. the dude kofie had already dropped a great timelapse of the JUSTICE WALL that they (retna el mac kofie) did for the MANIFEST EQUALITY show. but one day in april retna called up and said that someone had buffed the wall. i dont think it had been three weeks. retna has always treated us like family and i know that buffing the wall hurt him so i wanted to make a requiem of sorts for him and all the guys involved. i spent 3 days shooting video of them and i know they were there way more than i was. they put in a ton of work painting that wall.

MARCH 2010: alright so this is a failed attempt at another one shot. i feel really bad cuz the CBS guys really went all out and gave a great show. and heres my failed attempt at a promo. thats one of my favorite t. rex songs though.

#3 ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON (Dare RIP)

MARCH 2010: it wasnt supposed to rain this day. but it came pissing down at one point. i gotta give it up to the dudes that stood there and painted. im not no huckster but apparently that blackline really is waterproof. at the point it came pouring down, my dude jeffie graf threw on some 60s surf rock 45s and jammed those for a while. fernando killed it with the tacos. sun came shining through. beautiful day. Dare RIP.

#2 heavy surveillance

january 2010: the same weekend as the LA ART SHOW we put together a small gathering of some big folks at the shop. i know it may seem lazy but i put together this one shot promo. i kinda like the simplicity of it. i remember that i wanted to start experimenting with the idea of just "one shot" promos from this point.

#1 vox humana

january 2010: med got us involved with bryson and the la art machine. it was for a live painting exhibition for the fine arts dealers associations LA ART SHOW. let me be honest, i didnt really think anything of it cuz i dont really follow arts but med kept on telling me it was major. it was. i was seriously impressed. original warhols picassos monets old ancient jesus shit japanese scrolls hangy avatar balls crusty old maps and field drawings of birds and animals. my mind was blown.
